Oh dear, make sure she knows that she will often make more of a profit if she sells her books online or wait until she can sell them to other students taking the same class.

College book stores buy them back cheap, and then sell them to students at a discounted used price, which is cheaper than the new version, but still a heck of a lot more than they paid the student who used it. If you skip the middle man (aka, the book store), you can often sell the books to other students at a cheaper price than the book store, but it will be higher than what the book store would have paid you.

Of course, that route requires patience...

LOL! Fortunately, given seven children of whom three had multiple birth defects, I never had money to pay for college for the kids so they found their own tuition assistance and got their own jobs, which, turning a negative into a positive, helped them grow up faster.

Trig's response, though, reminds me of my older daughter when she was in fourth grade and the teacher asked what the kids should think if they saw a problem like 35-47 (answer: you copied it wrong from the board, dummy), and my daughter answered "not to forget the minus sign when you write negative 12." That prompted the nonplussed teachers to announce to the nine-year-olds that there is no such thing as negative numbers, a pronouncement that puzzled daughter Lizzie, who queried, "So why does Mom have them in her checkbook!" (That school never wanted to take another check from me!)

Yep, I never see a dime when the books are sold. I also see the bill on MY credit card that the kids use for "incidentals" which include my Christmas presents. Gotta love em!

Yeah, I gave my son enough money to buy a roundtrip bus tckt to get home for Thanksgiving. But he only bought a one way from the port authority. Then took the Chinatown bus back from Boston and pocketed the difference. MY money.
They're such sweethearts, aren't they?
